05 Jan 5 Signs Your Car Needs A Service
It’s often all too easy to ignore small important warning signs your car might be emitting, however if you see any of the below symptoms, then the chances are your car is in need of a trip to your local garage.
Unfamiliar noises
If your car is making noises that you haven’t heard before then you should take it to a garage straight away before what could be a small problem develops into a more serious one. If you hear any metal scraping sounds then it could be that a broken part is scraping against another part of the car.
Engine warning light
This little light on your dashboard is a good indicator as to whether or not your car is in good shape. If the yellow light comes on, make sure you take your car to a garage so the mechanics can tell you what’s going on. There could be a number of things wrong with your engine.
A lot of modern cars have a service light on the dashboard too; it usually looks like a little spanner and will tell you when your next service is due. However, if you think there’s something wrong with your car then it’s best to take it in for a service whether the service light has come on or not.
Discomfort whilst driving
If you’re driving your car and something feels wrong, chances are there probably is something wrong. Your car might be riding lower than usual or your tyres might be scraping on the wheel arch. If you feel, see or hear something abnormal then the best thing to do is get a professional to look at it for you.
A change in the breaks
When you push the brake pedal in your car, it should feel easy to do so. If the pedal is harder to push, oversensitive or making noises then you should take your car for a service straight away. It could be that the parts that make up the braking systems have become old and need replacing.
Smoke
If smoke is coming out of your car bonnet then that’s an immediate sign that your car needs to be looked at. Your car could have overheated which will ruin your engine if you try and drive your car with smoke coming out of it. The smoke may only be an indicator of a minor problem so it’s best to get it fixed sooner before it creates a bigger problem. If there’s a lot more smoke coming out from the exhaust than usual then your car may be leaking oil. In this case, your car is in need of a service, especially if the smoke has a burning smell to it.
